Wilson Wong is a Director of Amica Law LLC.  His practice area centres on intellectual property licensing, technology and commercial transactions and advice.  He represents a broad spectrum of intellectual property, IT, biotechnology and other technology providers and users in a wide variety of transactions.

He has advised numerous Singapore and multinational corporations, statutory boards and government-linked entities on data protection, privacy, confidentiality and regulatory secrecy issues, including the formulation of in-house and external policies, procedures and contract documents, and advising on issues of civil and regulatory liability and compliance.

 

He has extensive experience in advising, negotiating and drafting intellectual property licensing, IT, technology transfer, research and development, biotechnology, franchising, entertainment and other agreements involving intellectual property and technology.

He also has wide ranging experience in advising on and drafting general commercial agreements including manufacturing, technical services and distribution agreements, and hotel & property management agreements.

• The establishment of the legal and liability framework for public key infrastructure (PKI) for the local financial community;

• The establishment of the legal infrastructure for the nationwide electronic cheque clearing system for financial institutions;

• Major financial institutions in their technology outsourcing and Internet banking projects, including: the development and implementation of core-banking systems; and major projects for the outsourcing of IT infrastructure and data centre services for Singapore banks;

• Statutory boards & regulatory bodies in IP & technology licensing projects; 

• Ministries and statutory boards in tenders for and transactions relating to IP & technology projects on a national scale, including:

   - the outsourcing of a major regulatory body’s entire IT infrastructure and data centre functions to an outsourced services provider;

   - drafting and advising on a master IP framework for a national project for a government ministry;

   - a project to provide IT infrastructure and systems and ongoing outsourced IT services for a complex to house the research and biotechnology community in Singapore;

   - the turnkey implementation of a nationwide Internet electronic identification system involving encryption and public key certification;

   - implementation of a computerised ticketing system for shows and events held at various venues;

   - a turnkey project to provide automated services to the public and to provide online terminals for members of the public to access these service.

• A major Japanese IT and telecommunications corporation in the turnkey installation and maintenance of an intelligent building system, and various turnkey projects;

• Advising Singapore & foreign universities on technology and licensing transactions and issues;

• Local and foreign franchisors and franchisees in their franchising transactions;

• Research institutes and corporations in their research, licensing and exploitation projects and collaborations;

• Biotechnology transactions including those involving the licensing and transfer of technology in relation to drug discovery research, chemical libraries, and gene databases;

• Media and entertainment corporations in a variety of transactions including print and on-line publishing contracts; artiste, recording, production and performance contracts; event promotion and ticketing contracts; and venue hiring agreements; and 

• A variety of corporations in the licensing, distributorship, franchising and exploitation of their intellectual property, products and services.

Wilson graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1988 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 1989. He joined Allen & Gledhill in 1989 and was a partner of Allen & Gledhill from 1996 to 2006. He helped establish Amica Law LLC in 2006 and is one of its Directors. Wilson is also a SCOPE IP Consultant certified by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), and a member of the Interactive & Digital Media Expert Group of the Media Development Authority.

 

Wilson sits on the executive committee of the Licensing Executives Society Singapore. He is listed by Law Business Research Ltd in An International Who's Who of Internet and E-Commerce Lawyers. In The Asia Pacific Legal 500 (2002 to 2009), he is noted as a leading lawyer for IT and Telecoms.
