Jason

Jason Chan is a Director of the Litigation and Enforcement Group. He has been in practice since 1992 and involved in several significant IP cases in Singapore, including recent cases on biotechnology and computer electronics. He also advises on telecommunications laws and agreements, IT, software, database and privacy, Internet and domain name disputes.

 

Jason has been cited in the Legal Media Guide to World's Leading Patent Law Practitioners, World IP Contacts by Managing IP, Who's Who Legal Singapore Patents and AsiaLaw Leading Lawyers. Chambers Asia notes that he "..is an immensely commercially-minded litigation lawyer whose clear, logical analysis is of exceptional value." whilst Managing IP Handbook 2010 says he has been "..praised by both peers and clients as one of the best lawyers around."  He  is listed as a "Leading Individual" for IP by Legal500 2011 and a "Leading Lawyer 100" by Lawyer Monthly Magazine. 

 

Jason is a Registered Patent Agent in Singapore and also certified under the Federation Internationale des Conseils en Propriete Industrielle (FICPI) South East Asia Patent Drafting program. He was called to the Singapore Bar in 1992 and is on the Rolls of Solicitors of England & Wales. He was a partner in Allen & Gledhill from 1998 to 2006 and is one of the founding directors of Amica Law LLC.

  • Involved in passing off case involving the use of a brand for a worldwide chain of hotel properties.

  • Managed country IP enforcement programmes for major US consumer products companies.

  • Assisted local telecommunications provider on auction rules for 3G spectrum licenses .

  • Advising major telecomm equipment provider on telecom regulations and policies including data protection issues.

  • Advising on interactive online and mobile gaming services.

  • Advising local telecommunication company on matters relating to network infrastructural rollouts, licensing regimes, interconnection & interoperability, pricing and anti-competition rules.
