 Elaine Tan is is a Director in the IP Litigation and Enforcement practice group.
Elaine joined Amica Law LLC in 2007 and was made a Director in January 2009. Before joining private practice in 2000, she was a Deputy Public Prosecutor and a State Counsel in the Attorney-General’s Chambers. With her unique litigation experience, she has assisted many multinational brand owners and IP rights holders in the planning and management of their anti-counterfeiting campaigns and enforcement actions.
Elaine’s experience in contentious intellectual property matters also include opposition, revocation and invalidation actions before the Registrar of Trade Marks, domain name administrative proceedings and actions in Court for copyright, trade mark, registered designs and/or patent infringement, passing off and breach of confidence. In addition to assisting and advising clients on contentious intellectual property matters, she also assists clients in the management and supervision of their local and international trade marks portfolios and the development of intellectual property protection, exploitation and enforcement strategies both locally and worldwide. She also advises clients on regulatory issues relating to data protection, privacy and gaming.
Elaine graduated from the National University of Singapore with an LLB (Hons) degree in 1996 and was called to the Bar in 2000. She is a member of the Intellectual Property and the Information Technology Practice Committees in the Law Society of Singapore and is also active in committee work in organisations such as MARQUES and INTA. She is recognised by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore as a SCOPE IP (Strategies for the Creation, Ownership, Protection and Exploitation of IP) Consultant and also serves as an external adjunct lecturer at Temasek Polytechnic. She has been listed as a recommended intellectual property lawyer in AsiaLaw Leading Lawyers (2006, 2007, 2009), Who’s Who Legal Trade Marks (2007, 2008) Euromoney Legal Media Group's Guide to the World's Leading Trade Mark Law Practitioners (2008, 2009).
