Geraldine

Geraldine Tan is a Senior Associate at Amica Law LLC. Her main area of practice relates to intellectual property, information technology and commercial transactional and advisory work.  She has advised clients from a diverse array of industries and businesses, including banking and finance, education, entertainment, fashion, food and beverage, hospitality, IT, manufacturing, print and media, semiconductor and ticketing industries.


Geraldine has been involved in several major projects involving outsourcing, information technology and online transactions. Notable projects that she has been involved in include:

  • Providing legal support to a leading stock exchange provider in its technology projects, including the outsourcing of its IT infrastructure in a deal worth S$110m, the acquisition and implementation of new trading engine and clearing systems, and the procurement of data centre premises;

  • Advising and assisting local and foreign financial institutions in their outsourcing projects and IT procurement deals, including advising on applicable regulatory and compliance requirements of the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) in relation to such projects and deals;

  • Acting for a leading ticketing service provider in the implementation of their proprietary computerized ticketing system for shows and events held at various venues, as well as, the provision of ticketing and related services;

  • Advising and assisting a leading media organisation in matters relating to their print and online media and publishing business, and internet search business;

  • Providing legal support to a vendor in the establishment and implementation of a payment platform and system for the electronic road pricing system;
     
  • Providing legal support to a local government ministry in the establishment and integration of ICT in the curriculum for schools under our local education system;

  • Providing legal support to a local university in their technology transfer, research and collaboration, and intellectual property matters;

  • Providing legal support to a local government ministry in the establishment and integration of ICT in the curriculum for schools under our local education system;

  • Acting for various companies in their franchising and licensing transactions, including multi-national companies and local SMEs (small and medium enterprises).

Geraldine is experienced in dealing with transactions involving supply and manufacture arrangements, distribution, licensing, franchising, technology transfer, research collaboration and e-commerce. She also advises on competition, confidentiality, contract, data privacy, employment, gaming and telecommunications law concerns.


Academic and Professional Qualifications

Geraldine graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Laws degree in 2005 and was called to the Singapore Bar in 2006.
